Change Sleep Mode settings in Xbox One console
Typically, there are 2 ways to configure Sleep Mode settings on Xbox One console. First, is the Energy-saving mode, and the other is the Instant-on mode. As the name suggests, the Energy-saving mode is designed to save energy when not in use. The Instant-on mode on the other hand is useful in downloading games and updates when the console is put on standby. In Sleep mode, you put your console on standby rather than turning it off completely. People mainly use the standby mode as it allows the console to save your progress in a game, update functions and finish long downloads. To configure Sleep Mode settings on Xbox One console, press the Xbox button on your controller to open the Guide. Select Settings visible as the cog-wheel icon in the sidebar on the left and then, choose All Settings.
Scroll down to the Power & startup entry as shown in the image above. Then, select the Power mode & startup tile.
When directed to a new screen, hit the drop-down button next to the Power mode drop-down button.
From the list of options displayed choose either the Energy saving or Instant-on option. The main difference between the 2 options is that the Energy-saving mode takes longer for the console to boot up after you turn it back on ( up to 40 seconds approximately). while Instant-on this will power your console back much faster, typically under 5 seconds. Having said that, the Instant-on mode consumes more power than the energy-saving mode but saves you time.
