When you are working on a project in OneNote and want to cut or copy text and then paste it into your document, you simply select it, choose copy and then paste it in the desired space. However, there’s one problem associated with this action. The text you copy from the original source gets pasted as it in the original document. While you may prefer the copied text look like the text in the destination document. So, you’ll have to-

Configuring OneNote to paste plain text only

Please note that the Keep Text Only option discards all formatting and non-text elements such as pictures or tables. Even the Graphical elements are discarded, and tables are converted to a series of paragraphs.

1] Access OneNote Settings

We are dealing with the OneNote app that’s available with Office 365. So, launch the OneNote app and go to ‘Settings and More’ option. It is visible as three dots in the upper right-hand corner of the app. Next, select ‘Settings’ to manage settings of the app.

2] Change the default paste option under Options window

Under Settings, choose ‘Options’ to open a new window. There, scroll down to the bottom of the page to get ‘Paste Options’.

Hit the drop-down arrow adjacent to ‘Set the default paste option’ and select ‘Keep text only’. That’s it! Hereafter, whenever you copy some text and paste it into OneNote document, it will be pasted as plain text only. TIP: This post will show you how to move OneNote notebooks from PC to OneDrive.
